CDCTA held our first Dressage Seat Equitation Clinic on April 19. Three riders and six auditors gathered at RideFauquier Horse Park in Warrenton to learn from L Judge Lisa Eagley-DesRosier. Lisa explained how this class, which is still fairly new to USDF/USEF, runs and what judges look for. The riders then simulated a class and received extensive feedback from Lisa.
Many participants commented that they did not previously know much about Dressage Seat Equitation and found the clinic to be informative and fun. As Lisa explained, a Dressage Seat Equitation Class is judged on the rider and how the rider influences the horse's movement. Theses classes promote correct seat, position, and use of the aids in dressage, which can be very helpful in improving dressage tests scores!
As part of CDCTA's educational opportunities, we are offering additional opportunities to learn about Dressage Seat Equitation. At each of our Dressage Schooling Shows at Great Meadow this year, we are offering a mock Dressage Seat Equitation class. The class will not be scored and the judge will offer instruction on how to participate in a class and feedback on riders' performance. The class is free to anyone registered for at least one test in the show!
